2. 1 Job Description for Server Facility Management : –
2.1.1 Server Management
a) Check status of servers and their network availability through server monitoring tools.
b) Attend and close all alerts and notifications received by monitoring tools.
c) Troubleshoot and resolve issues faced on servers using “Known Error Database” – Knowledgebase and Standard Operating Procedures.
d) Check and ensure disk space availability in all servers.
e) Provide report of server health and utilization status in required format.
f) User Maintenance and Access Control
g) Installation of new servers with operating system and required software and applications as per checklist and SoP.
h) Upgrade of server operating system
i) Liaison with other team members and Vendors for server related requirement.
j) Manage IIS/FTP services and publish/host portals
k) Manage servers in virtual environment (Hyper-V, VMWare)
l) Manage application hosting through terminal services or other equivalent technology
2.1.2. Attend Incident and Service Requests
a) Attend incident requests in e-Helpdesk, mail (or alternate system as defined by Reliance) and resolve within time frame defined in service delivery guidelines.
b) Attend service requests in RISP, e-Helpdesk, mail (or alternate system as defined by Reliance) and resolve within time frame defined in service delivery guidelines.
2.1.3. Backup/Restoration/Verification
a) Follow Backup Management System and procedure as defined by Reliance.
b) Troubleshoot backup related problems and take required action.
c) Fill up backup report in prescribed format and record for reference.
d) Maintain backup media inventory as per prescribed format
e) Backup media movement from defined storage location as per procedure.
f) Carry out scheduled/on demand restorations
g) Image Backup and Recovery
2.1.4. Security and Patch Management
a) Follow security procedure as per Reliance policy and guidelines.
b) Service Pack upgrade and patch management on servers
c) Installation and maintenance of antivirus software on all servers, with regular pattern update
d) File/Folder permissions, access control and user management
e) Liaison with other team members for antivirus related issues
f) Check and resolve anomalies reported through server dashboard
2.1.5. Management of file servers
a) Provisioning and maintenance of server storage to users for storing critical data
b) User Maintenance and Access Control
c) Co-ordinate with users to ensure regular house-keeping of their data
d) Prepare necessary storage utilization reports
e) Migration of data from one server to another, ensuring data integrity and availability.
